Mayumi Sargent

violinist

Mayumi Sargent is a violinist specialized in historical performance practice from the 17th to the 20th century. She has a deep interest for unknown compositions and forgotten composers, with a special focus on women composers.

As a freelance musician, she works with the Nieuwe Philharmonie Utrecht in the Netherlands, Concerto Köln in Germany and the Wroclaw Baroque Orchestra in Poland, amongst other ensembles.

Her love for chamber music earns a big spotlight in her life; she has co-founded and is first violin of the string quartet PuraCorda, the piano trio Aquarel·la and Ensemble Tramuntana, of which she's concertmaster.

Not only a performing musician; apart from the research she does, she runs the concert series Nits Clàssiques de la Tramuntana and the yearly youth competition Concurs de Joves Ensemble Tramuntana in Mallorca, Spain.
